Your peppers look great! Mine are taking awhile. I've gotten a few fruits but they're growing slowly.

my plants are a little behind too. Just starting to get pods on some, probably not even half have pods yet.

I just posted a video review of the Tennosui pear which is a pollen offspring of the Hosoui pear. Tennosui is very similar to the Hosoui and may be the closest thing we can grow to a Hosoui in high fireblight pressure areas.

Great video. I have a Tennosui which is very similar to Hosoui but much more fireblight resistant. Hosoui is the pollen parent to Tennossui. Tennosui gets its fireblight resistance from its seed parent, Tennessee. I'm in SE Georgia, HZ 9A. There would be no point in attempting Hosoui here. My Tennosui is about finished for the season. It's even earlier ripening than most of my European type pears. I thought that I would mention it for the sake of your viewers who get too much fireblight pressure for Hosoui to thrive but would like to try a very similar pear. Tennosui is very new, and to my knowledge its pollinizer requirements remain untested. It blooms before but overlaps with Korean Giant. It blooms after but overlaps with LeConte and Tennessee. Of my trees I get best bloom overlap with an unknown strain mislabeled Orient. It bloomed with Scarlett, but Scarlett did not survive the fireblight pressure in my orchard. Tennosui is commercially available at multiple online nurseries. A way to tell if a pear is ready to pick or not is to simply tilt it up. If it snaps off without resistance, it's ready.

Thanks for sharing your time and expertise. Question: how effective do you find the fruit bags? If effective do you have a recommendation for size and brand of bags? Nice idea about tossing a few fruit on the ground.

I stopped buying this variety at the stores because they are tasteless. Every variety of pear has a unique flavor except this variety. I do not know if it is me or what, but to me all they are is a sweetened pulp.

I think during pandemic everyone went bonkers growing all kinds of stuff, now most of us are cutting back to focus on what is more practical for our taste as well as time.

I made a mini greenhouse out of a big clear plastic storage container this year. It's about 2ft by 1ft. I drilled a few holes with a one inch hole saw for ventilation and covered the holes with mesh to keep pests out as I keep the container is outside. Anyway I've been really surprised by how little I have had to water things. Even though it has holes in the side a lot of the water vapour condenses on the lid and drops down onto the plant pots or bottom of the container. The humid environment means moisture in the air is reabsorbed into the compost. Even though the container has been outside in direct hot sun the compost has remained moist. Where I would normally have to water a pot every day or every other day it seems I can leave the plants in the container a week easily. I think I will do a couple more containers like this. It's great for when plants are young for keeping pests off. I have been moving the box into shade on really hot days but could easily leave it in full shade if I was to go away. Maybe I'll buy a slightly taller box so plants can stay in there a bit longer. I did think the plants might just end up cooking if the container was in full sun but that hasn't been the case. It's great for those (like me) who don't have space for a greenhouse or polytunnel. I think something like this would work great for inside too.

Got a good amount of pods on my sugar rush peach I overwintered. Another & 2 habaneros are just starting to flower so way behind on those.

Pretty sweet. Most of my pepper plants have finally been putting out lots of PODS this past couple weeks as well 🙂

When I change my nutrients out, I dumped the old nutrients into my soil garden. No sense, letting what’s left go to waste even if it helps just a little bit.
